Where do I Ask a Product Related Question?

You say in your introduction to this discussion area "Do you have a question . . . that is non-product related?" ask here. I think this question is product related but I couldn't find anywhere else to ask.

I have one of your WhiBal studio card sets I bought in early 2005. I've used it extensively. When I first got it you helped me solve a problem caused by glare on the card. Now I have another problem.

I've used the card mostly with indirect daylight. Recently I started using some homemade studio lights that use daylight balanced florescents. I had never had occasion to shoot the same subject using both types of lighting. Night before last I had to reshoot something I first shot with daylight. After using the artificial lights I compared the color and it was different. The shots made with the artificial light was warmer and a little greener. I'm trying to figure out how this could be. Do you have any ideas?

Is it possible the florescent lights are missing some colors and cannot be made to match daylight?

    Hi Jim,

The WhiBal discussion forum is the proper place, but that is not important. I need some more information. Are you saying that you have used the WhiBal in the studio shots, or are you using the WhiBal daylignt shots to balance the studio shots. Please advise the workflow. Thanks.

BTW...Send some of the WhiBal shots. I will not be able to comment until I see the raw shots.

I'm not sure I understand your question. I use and have used the WhiBal card to balance studio shots for several years. What may have been confusing is that I have a wall of windows and use indirect daylight coming through these windows. I photograph quilts this way. Because it can rain for a week or more here in Houston I created artificial lights for the times I'm unable to use daylight.

OK. I would need to see the shots with the WhiBal card and quilt. Are you shooting JPEG or RAW. Please send RAW file if you are shooting RAW. Thanks.
