All LensAlign models are designed to be mounted onto a tripod with a 1/4-20 screw (or set onto a table top). A *heavy* or *Pro* tripod is not required (except for the Pro Plus with long Ruler mounted). In our studio we use a ~$20 consumer video tripod. The video type tripod works well because the tilt and pan head makes it easier to adjust the LensAlign (1 axis at a time) during the optional (but *extremely useful*) back-sighting procedure.
* Do not over-tighten the tripod screw.
* We highly recommend using a tripod, but in a pinch a table top or light-stand (with 1/4-20 screw) can be used.
* The LensAlign will only mount on a 1/4-20 screw (not the 3/8" screw used to mount ball-heads to tripod bases).
