Which Sighting Port to use?

it is critical to properly position and align the LensAlign and the camera under test. This uses the patented true Parallel Alignment feature of LensAlign where you use the sighting system to position and align the MkII Focus Target and the camera. This process is described elsewhere in the documentation.

Older LensAlign MkII systems (2 sighting ports)

Use the Center Port on the LensAlign for all test shots except macro shots.

The Center Port (Main) of the MkIi will line up with the B focus point on the Target Plate.

Newer LensAlign MkII systems (3 sighting ports)

  • Use the "A" (left from the front) sighting port on the MkII for test shots with lenses 50mm and above. Use the Corresponding "A" port on the Target Plate.
  • Use the "B"  (center) sighting port on the MkII for test shots with lenses less than 50mm. Use the Corresponding "B" port on the Target Plate.
  • Use the "C" (right from the front) sighting port on the MkII for test shots with macro lenses at close distances. Use the Corresponding "C" port on the Target Plate.
